Balloon Sinuplasty™

The Balloon Sinuplasty™ system is a group of medical devices that are used to create openings in the patient’s sinuses. The devices use a small, flexible balloon that is placed into the nose to reach the sinuses. The balloon is gradually inflated to gently restructure the previously blocked nasal passage, restoring normal sinus drainage. The procedure can be done in the office with topical anesthesia or under general anesthesia. There is a dramatic cost savings for the in-office procedure and it is covered by most insurance companies. It could be viewed as an angioplasty for the sinuses as compared to open heart surgery. The maxillary sinuses and the frontal sinuses can be treated by this method.
